Medication Side Effects

When medications are prescribed side effects may or may not be discussed fully or at all. Prescription medication are used to treat medical issues that we may face. While the medication may treat the issue at hand they may also cause certain side effects or may interact negatively with order medications or vitamins that you need to be aware of. The responsibility of your healthcare not only lies with your physician but also with you. Please be aware of the possible side effects of the medications you take and make sure you seek medical attention if you experience any noted side effects or any side effects not listed. Some people may not experience any side effects, some side effects may get better over time as your body gets used to the medication. Let your healthcare provider know immediately if you continue to experience these symptoms or if they worsen over time. Be an advocate and educate yourself by reading the information and instructions provided with your prescription.  Ask questions to your physician and pharmacist if you have any concerns. Request blood work or testing to ensure your organs (heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc) are functioning properly when taking any medications long term.  Don’t be fearful of taking prescribed medications but make sure you fully understand what you are taking and any possible side effects that you need to know about.
